Relieve Stress Fast

There are many quick ways to relieve stress fast.  First, you should stop yourself.  Step back (not literally) from the situation and take a deep breath.  If you have enough time, meditation is a great stress reliever, but if you take a few deep breaths… in through the nose and out through the mouth…. it’ll help calm you down in a hurry.

We don’t always have the option to avoid or leave the thing that is causing us the most stress.  Another way to tolerate and relieve stress fast is to have a snack.  Having you brain and focus concentrated on something other than the stressor will help, but if you’re having a favorite food, like chocolate for example, you will be filled with the hormones which make you happy, which will reduce your stress also.

If you are able to walk away from the stressful situation, then do so.  Going for a quick walk or even just removing yourself to different surroundings will help a great deal.

Going outside is perfect.  Many people find comfort with a pet or watching birds.  Smelling flowers or feeling the wind on your face has a calming effect and will also be able to reduce your stress quickly and lower your blood pressure.

A book or movie is also a great distraction from whatever is causing you stress.   They can whisk you away to another time and place where things are better.   You can take a nice bath or shower.  Also try investing in aroma therapy.  A simple fragrant candle is very soothing and relaxing.
